Few people (well, I dont) know the brains behind ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Now I do, and he is my new game dev hero. Team Ico Gamers put up a blog post about 50 things you didn’t know about Ico and SOTC. I still haven’t played Ico or SotC, but I know that both of those games will be favourite games. If Knytt is one my favourite games (which lent its inspiration from Ico), then surely I’d indulge in the games “design by substraction.”
Anyway, Fumito Ueda is my new hero because of points 31 to 34 in the blog post.
“31. Fumito Ueda decided to go for a video game career when he thought “how wonderful it might be to be someone who touches others through his creations”
32. He filled 11 roles in the development of his first game, ICO
33. One of them was to design the logo and draw the box art himself
34. He also single-handedly created the pilot movie in three months using Lightwave 3D, which he taught himself. ”
This is dedication and passion. Go Fumito!

Cheers for the link. I agree, in that Ueda-san works very hard on his games and sets an example to how other developers should be.
