This post at BBC Online is a load of nonsense.
I am sure most players who played or are playing WoW remembers the Blood Plague that ravaged the world of Azeroth when Zul’Gurub was released.
Apparently, researchers decided to study what happened as a way to discover how people would react if a real disease would break out. Althought some of it holds true, most of it is just nonsense.
“Some acted selflessly, rushing to the aid of other characters even though that meant they risked infection themselves.”
Yeah, whatever. You were killed practically instantly… Why bother? I am sure a dose of bandage will help a fellow player.
“And some who were sick made it their mission to deliberately infect others.”
Look! I got infected! Runs around to the nearest guy. Drops dead in 5 seconds… Wouldn’t have happened.
“The players seemed to really feel they were at risk and took the threat of infection seriously, even though it was only a game.”
I think everyone would not want to go into a capital city only to die every few seconds. They took it seriously? Please.
