Well well. Microsoft’s XNA competition Dream.Build.Play concludes tonight some time. I am not precisely sure when (Im in +2 time zone), so it should be about 7 hours from now.
I uploaded my entry yesterday after about a month of dev… Considering that Roach Toaster has already won 2 game dev comps and people praising it for its addictive and unique gameplay, I was semi-confident that I would at least make the top 20. I have always under-appreciated Roach Toaster, but this time, I might be over-appreciating it. After discovering that there might (emphasis on “might”) be a total entries into the 4 digit range, I felt that perhaps this time Roach Toaster might not win something.
It also sucks that I couldn’t include music (which I think adds a LOT to a game), because of .wav files being so INCREDIBLY huge.
But, it has not all been in vain. Devving Roach Toaster in XNA has proved invaluable. I have learned a lot! The fact that XNA code is very similar to Java, I can easily port it to Java for my senior Computer Studies project for school. I can also then make a web version of it as a way to draw prospective buyers to Roach Toaster 2!
Alas, I am still holding my thumbs! It would be so totally awesome if I won something!
Good luck to all the other entrants. May lady luck be on your side… Wait… Who am I kidding? MAY Lady Luck be on my side! I know her number. Muwhahaha!
