Well well after my long absence, I plan to blog a bit more! My proper net connection has not arrived yet.
My precious game that I have been working on for the past 8 months is closing in on the beta stages. I have already registered the domain, and the website should be up in due time.
I am talking about Roach Toaster 2, my original turn-based strategy that has you destroying the city’s roaches! I am really excited! I think it will do really well.
My current plans is to sell Roach Toaster 2 from my own site via Plimus, but I would also be very keen if any publisher would want to publish it. This is my intentions for releasing the open-beta for everyone to test. Perhaps somewhere, a publisher would be interested in selling it.
Anyway, to come to my point, I do not know if portals would accept my rather unique game… I can imagine, that it is much better to have your 1st game sold on portals in order to gather a player-base in which you can then sell your future games from your main site.
I really really wish, I could Roach Toaster 2 on some portal, which leads me to think why some developers choose not to have their games on portals… Why exactly is that? Your chances of gaining is so much more. You lose nothing in the end. I know selling from your own site, gives you much more revenue, but what do sacrifice in return for extra players, which would not have seen your game in any other way?
To portal or not to portal, that is the question!
P.S. Excuse my Hamlet quoting, I have been inundated with the play for this year’s written work.
