Letting Go:
I do not know if any other indie developers went through the same thing, but at the moment I am having this weird feeling.
Lets make the analogy that my games are my children (not that I am old enough to relate), but for the sake of my argument they are like my children.
They have not even been to school yet. Their whole being and who they are is my doing. I have been growing them up. I am the one who influenced the game for what it is and only me… I was in control.
Now has come the time that I have to send my games off to school. I have to allow my games to be influenced by other people.
This being said, I decided to let someone else do the spriting of my new game, Roach Toaster 2: Big City. This is beneficial in a lot of ways.
I can a) focus all my time to work on programming and getting Roach Toaster 2 done and b) it looks so much more professional and cool. One of the flaws of Roach Toaster 1, is the fact that it had bad graphics, which in essence hampered it a lot. Many possible players, did not give a second look at it, because of the graphics…
It seems a bit weird… Has any other indie developers gone through the same thing in the early stages of their career?
I would like to hear from you.
